What's included in a hot tub service?
A professional hot tub service gives your spa a thorough clean and health check, helping to identify signs of wear, leaks or other potential issues before they become more serious.
Depending on the service package you choose, our hot tub engineers can carry out:
- Drain, clean and refill - your hot tub is emptied, wet vacuumed and cleaned before being refilled with fresh water.
- Shell and cabinet cleaning - the acrylic shell and exterior cabinet are cleaned, with additional polishing included with selected packages.
- Filter cleaning or replacement - existing filters can be cleaned, or customer-supplied replacement filters fitted.
- Pump and air blower inspection - pumps and air blowers are visually inspected for signs of potential problems.
- Circulation pump checks - where fitted, the circulation pump and shaft seal are checked for evidence of leaks.
- Heater inspection - the heater is checked for visible signs of leakage.
- Plumbing and joint checks - accessible pipework, glued joints and union joints are inspected for leaks, with unions tightened where necessary.
- Ozonator check - where an ozonator is fitted, its condition is checked as part of the service.
- Topside control checks - the hot tub's topside control panel is tested for correct functionality.
- Pump priming and restart - once refilled, the spa is restarted and the pumps are primed of air.
- Initial chemical dosing - an initial chemical dose is carried out as part of the restart process.
- Service report - you'll receive a report containing any comments, observations and advice from our engineer.
Our Gold and Platinum services also include a complete system flush using a chemical cleaner, inspection of the jets and headrests, cleaning of the jet fronts, removal of built-up scum lines, acrylic inspection for delamination and treatment of the hot tub cover.
For the deepest clean, our Platinum Service also includes a chlorine dioxide super-shock bio treatment designed to eliminate up to 99% of biofilm.
FAQs about hot tub servicing
Do I need to empty my hot tub before the engineer arrives?
No. Where draining is included in your chosen package, our engineer will drain the hot tub as part of the service.
Do you refill the hot tub after servicing?
Yes. Silver, Gold and Platinum servicing packages include refilling the hot tub with fresh water after the cleaning and inspection work has been completed.
Do you check the hot tub for leaks?
Yes. As part of our servicing packages, we inspect accessible pipework, glued joints, plumbing unions and relevant components for visible signs of leakage.
Do you clean the hot tub filters during a service?
Yes. Filter cleaning is included in our Silver, Gold and Platinum servicing packages. We can also fit replacement filters supplied by the customer.
What is a hot tub system flush?
A system flush uses a specialist chemical cleaner to help clean the internal plumbing before the hot tub is drained and refilled. This is included in our Gold and Platinum servicing packages.
Does hot tub servicing include repairs?
A service is primarily intended for cleaning, inspection and preventative maintenance. If our engineer identifies a problem during the service, it will be noted and discussed with you.
Repair work or replacement parts are not automatically included in the servicing price.
What is the biofilm treatment included with Platinum?
Our Platinum package includes a chlorine dioxide super-shock bio treatment designed to tackle biofilm within the hot tub's internal plumbing. It is our most comprehensive servicing and cleaning package.
How long does a hot tub service take?
The time required depends on the service package, the size and condition of the hot tub and the work required on the day. More comprehensive packages such as Gold and Platinum naturally involve more cleaning and inspection work than Silver - but between 3-4 hours typically.
